This year too TILO, SBB, Arcobaleno and the other public transport companies are ready for the important event with the Rabadan carnival in Bellinzona. The access passes will be valid as a transport ticket from Thursday 27 February to Wednesday 4 March 2025.
The proven collaboration between TILO, SBB and the Rabadan Organising Committee will also guarantee for the 2025 edition an offer of special round-trip trains from the Carnival City, every night, from Thursday to Shrove Tuesday, excluding Sunday. As foreseen by the regular offer, customers will have a train every thirty minutes to Bellinzona. Every evening, excluding Sunday and Monday, starting at 8:00 pm, the S90 line in a northerly direction will be extended to Bellinzona. In addition, an additional S90 connection from Mendrisio is planned to be extended for the evenings of Thursday, Friday and Tuesday, while on Saturday evening there will be three additional connections from Mendrisio.
For the return journey, special trains are planned in the direction of Chiasso, Locarno and Biasca, every night except Sunday. On Friday and Saturday nights, a special connection will also run to Airolo. The special trains in the direction of Chiasso run via the Monte Ceneri mountain route, stopping at all stations. In total, there are 38 extended trains and 51 special trains.
The Rabadan pass, weekly or daily, is valid as a public transport ticket included on all trains and buses, throughout the perimeter of the Arcobaleno tariff community, from 18:00 to 07:00. On Saturday, the transport ticket is valid from 17:00 to 7:00, while on Sunday, the transport ticket is valid only for the procession from 7:00 to 24:00.
To ensure the safety of travellers, two access points will be set up at Bellinzona station for the return train: travellers heading towards Chiasso will pass through the main entrance, while all those taking the train heading towards Biasca and Locarno will use the walkway to the left of the station. Access to the platforms will be controlled in order to avoid overcrowding on the platforms and in the carriages. Furthermore, on Sunday 11 February, starting at 8:30 and for the entire duration of the large masked parade until approximately 16:30, it will not be possible to enter or exit the P+R car park at Bellinzona station.
